Before the procedure begins, Dr. Nasca will first take an X-ray to make sure that everything looks good to proceed. He will then completely numb the affected area. During the root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed.
Dr. Nasca will either place a temporary filling in the back of the access hole or seal the tooth that day. From there, a crown or filling will be put in place to help ease any existing pain. This procedure is completed differently on a case-by-case basis.
Without a root canal, the affected tooth could become infected or inflamed even further, affecting the tissue surrounding the tooth and possibly create abscesses in the tooth.
